The Academy
Serves students, ages 5-18
The Hamilton-Garrett Music and Arts Academy offers private lesson instruction in piano, voice, guitar, percussion, and violin, alongside classes in music theory, history, Black identity and experience, and more. It also hosts music clinics and workshops through our Visiting Artist Series.
Community Outreach Programs
Drumline
Serves students, ages 10-18
Established in the Fall of 2022, the Hamilton-Garrett Drumline is a youth percussion and horns ensemble for ages 10-18. Our work is based on preserving and celebrating marching style drumming within Black musical traditions, from New Orleans second-line, Historically Black College and Universities, in addition to folkloric traditions throughout the African Diaspora.
Adult Extension Program
To accommodate the interests of our older students who wish to further deepen their knowledge of music, we will provide additional elective courses in a variety of topics within music education, technology and industry (i.e., music business, engineering, music and video production and songwriting).
HG Master Classes
Serves 150-200 students per event
We will provide masterclasses in Black music to neighboring schools including early childhood, primary and secondary education. The masterclasses will be led by our accomplished teachers and visiting artists. Interested in having your school participate in an HG Master Class?
Adult Community Choir
Ages 18 +
In the Spring 2023, under the direction of our Executive Director, this community-wide adult choir will perform repertoire within the African American Church traditions.

Looking to finance your tuition? We have payment plans and financial aid available.​ Scholarships are available for students in the Academy only ages 5-18. Payment plans are available for all applicants.
